Almost every opportunity that people will have in their lives is affected by the quality of the education they receive. The imposition of the Darwinian God-rejecting logic on immature minds in captive public classrooms for the origin, meaning and purpose of life is dividing our house against itself. Thomas Jefferson called it tyranny of the mind.
A leading modern Darwinian evolutionist and anti-creationist philosopher, Michael Ruse, acknowledges that evolution is a God-rejecting religion, “Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion—a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality.” Michael Ruse continues, “I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint, and Dr. Gish [of the Institute for Creation Research] is but one of many to make it, the literalists are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today . . .. Evolution therefore came into being as a kind of secular ideology, an explicit substitute for Christianity.”
Michael Ruse’s declaration points to an unusual mindset. He reflects on what some call ordinary double-minded Christians. As an ardent evolutionist and an “ex-Christian,” he deserves to be complimented for honestly defining the meaning of religion. A crude illustration of this is that when a beautiful bird lands on a fence, the front half is on one side of the fence and the rear half is on the other. But when the bird flies, it always chooses to move with the power of reality.
What is different with Mr. Ruse is he now chooses to follow Darwinian open-mindedness and reject the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God,” addressed in previous blogs listing 15 Foundational American Principles. This reversal is as unusual as when atheist parents home school their children because they do not want their kids exposed to Darwinian open-mindedness in matters of morality for what is real and what is not.
The people in Communist Russia were subjected to a secularized judiciary religion/education monopoly. After 70 years the empire collapsed. Mikhail Gorbachev, leader of Russia from 1985 to 1991, tried to save it by curtailing the consumption of vodka and restore the incentive work that had been weakened by socialism (United Nations Forum, December 7, 1988).
From the Grand Jury Presentment for the Eleventh Judicial District of Iowa, December 1968, Problems in Higher Education, “All basic truths have been apprehended. All the changing conditions we hear so much about do not affect the validity or applicability of the central directives of human conduct. These truths are demonstrated both by their benefits and by the consequences of disregarding them—those who do fall easily into . . . fascism, lawlessness, drug addiction, et cetera. There is no greater contribution a teaching institution can make to human progress and purpose than to endow students at all levels with this knowledge.”
