Under morality-based Common Law, God blessed the United States. “America has freed more human beings from the clutches of evil than any [other] nation on earth, and we are only a relatively young country. Even though continental Europe, in its posture of pseudo-sophistication, might consider us the country cousin of the family of nations, when these same Europeans needed to be rescued—often from themselves—we were there to rescue them. We have done it many times and in many ways, around the world. At enormous costs to ourselves, we have gone into (and out of) dozens of nations in order to make the world a better place—even those nations that were our deadliest enemies, like Germany and Japan after World War II. What MacArthur did in Japan and what the Marshall Plan accomplished in Europe are without historical equal, and they indicate what we think our higher calling on the planet really is. They also indicate the American penchant for forgiveness and generosity, which surpasses all others” (Dr. Jack Wheeler, The Ugly American, page 4, quoted by The Schwarz Report, May 2008, Volume 48, Number 5). We are indeed the most powerful nation in the world and have used that power meekly and compassionately. Where did America get her strength?

Creation’s God. He has responded to the righteous prayers of our people in supernatural ways from the very beginning. The victory of the United States over the greatest army on earth at the time, Great Britain, was the result of supernatural intervention. Our prayers to God can be part of our testimony for political dialog.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” Declaration of Independence

Immigrants came to America to avoid the tyranny of education dictated by government bosses. All of us, as did early Americans, have work to do. Per the First Amendment to the federal Constitution, no church denomination owns the Bible. The most popular book of all time, the Judeo-Christian Bible, is much more than a contemporary definition of religion. People remain free to reject Christ or place Him on the throne of their lives by acknowledging they have done wrong and accepting His substitutionary payment for sin. Christ’s sacrifice for man’s sins is beyond compare. Maybe, just maybe, keeping America free has something to do with keeping her liberty-loving, tyranny-fighting biblical foundation intact.
